Pathfinder dam was constructed between 1905 and 1909 in a very steep canyon. The dam stands 214 feet high, 97 feet thick at its base but only 11 feet wide at its top. Getting there:
Located on the North Platte River 47 miles southwest of Casper, in Carbon and Natrona counties. From the town of Alcova, travel west for 6 miles on U.S. 220 then turn left (south) and travel 7 miles to the reservoir via county roads 407, 408 or 410.
