Flaming Gorge was a blast

Wife sent me up to Rock Springs to go fishing with my buddy Shane on Wednesday. We hit the Gorge yesterday. after sleeping in, we got out of the house at 5:30 and ran down to Cedar Springs. He was telling me that the bite has been slow for almost a week so my expectations were set a little low but my goal was a 40" Laker. We got the boat unloaded and his power trim wouldn't work. He knows his seals are going bad but just hasn't made time to replace them. We loaded the boat back up and he ran over to the marina to see if a buddy of his had some way of getting the fluid in the little hole since Shane only had a quart container. Fortunately, his buddy had an oil can and we were able to fill it back up. Got on the lake and didn't seem to matter where we went, the wake boarders decided to play about 100-200' away. As we trolled around they would follow us. Picked up a couple salmon and a small laker then we finally got one on. My PB 37 1/4", 23.3 # pig came up. We decided to go to another part of the Reservoir to try. Guess who followed? Grrr. After a couple more salmon, a 38", 29.8# fish hit. Yippee, my second PB of the day. As I was holding this one for pics, I could feel salmon in its gut. Lol. We decided to troll up the bank to where he always catches salmon but nothing showed up so we went back to where we picked up the 38"er and got hooked up again. He asked me if it was anything like the previous ones and I told him it was at least 5# heavier. Turned out to be 40" and 34# whopper. Got back to his place too tired to worry about dinner so just sacked out and made the run home today.

Good Gawd! Way to salvage the day. Sounds like maybe there was a wake-boarder pattern at play for you.
