Fished Wednesday, 11/22 on Twin Buttes. Lake is still open and fish are still hitting occasionally. Two fly fisherman both reported catching 4-6 fish each in the afternoon, and I caught and released two very nice browns with several other fish following or hitting and getting off my small silver spinner (Bluefox #2 all silver) I fished from approximately 11:00 a.m. to near dark (~5:15 p.m. or so) from the boat ramp past the west end gate all the way to the shallow west end. Most of my action was within 300 yards of the boat ramp , but the two fly fishermen were each fishing the far west end and around to the northwest side.
If anyone knows how to fish the very shallow west end of the lake without catching moss every cast of a spin rod, I'd love to hear about your techniques. I think my fishing would vastly improve this time of year if I didn't have to spend so much time fighting the wind AND cleaning off moss. Moss is great because it's why the lake provides such outstanding food supplies for the trout, but I need to learn how to more effectively circumvent it, especially in the large shallow flats of this lake.
