WG New Feature and Tips

Blog by: Matt Snider , CO 12/19/2023 (Return to blogs)
Part of Series: Winter Giveaway
New to the Winter Giveaway is a small little feature that may help you win something.  We've added an icon to the prizes that have the most picks. You'll see a little "most popular" badge on the images in the listings for those prizes. When you pick your prizes, know that if you choose one of these items you're putting your ticket into a pretty full jar!

We want you to win something you want, so by all means pick the prizes you like the most - not trying to steer you astray here. Pick something for yourself, pick something to give someone else, but by all means pick something you're excited about.

The prizes are divided into two categories. One is a listing of physical items, gear, gifts, etc. The other is a set of trips and lodging.  You do not have to choose one from each category if you do not want to win something from it. For instance, if you want to win the mystery box (why on earth would you) but can't make time for a fishing trip, you can skip the selection in the trips/lodging set.

To remind you of how the selection goes, we start picking with the prize that has the most demand (picks divided by the number of winners for that prize) and work our way down.  All the prizes are lumped together in this sorting, there is no division by category. As such, many of the trips and lodging prizes are picked first.

If you are selected to win a prize you will be out for all subsequent selections, as you can only win one prize per year. If you won a prize last year and we feature it again this year, you are open to winning it again.

When we get to the bottom of the list, your odds of winning improve. And no I am not going to share with you what those are. But at least you know some of the top picks now!

Don't forget to check out the WG partner promo codes!

Keep those ice reports coming!  Please submit info to the lake page via the lake update form

Good luck with your fishing this winter, as well as the Winter Giveaway! Stay safe!

The most popular icon is a nice addition. Interesting to see what people are interested in.

An advocate of alternative fly fishing and fisheries preservation, Matt is an avid wiper and muskie fisherman traveling with boat in tow in pursuit of these hard-to-find fish. If a fish is willing to eat something, his bet is that it will eat a fly...
