I started doing this years ago while fishing out of float tubes. I'd grab the Vexilar and a few ice rods and head out in late fall/early winter and pick on schooled up bass, crappie, bluegill, and perch. Now I'm a little fancier than I was years ago with a Hobie, Lowrance, and Tungsten jigs, but the idea is still the same. Test out the ice gear before heading to the high country and have a ton of fun while doing so!
Winter seems to be a little behind this year and I don't mind it one bit! If you don't have the time to head up to the high country in the next week dust off the kayak or float tube and go have some fun!
pikeNcolorado, CO 12/12/2017 6:25:59 PM As a long time supporter and volunteer of CPW, I thank you for filming/posting these videos to get the word out. Everyone is so quick to bash what they do. Truth of the matter is, we wouldn't have 90% of the fish we catch today if it weren't for them. So thanks and good stuff. Keep rolling em' out.

I like the idea of jigging with my ice fishing rigs off of my kayak - sounds like fun - even in the summer!
