What are FishExplorer Points?

Points are form of recognition for your contributions to FishExplorer. Our platform is a massive collection of fishing information, and it takes a village to ensure its quality. This requires a perpetual stream of member-submitted conditions updates, lake and river information changes, and more to maintain a solid resource for the most ambitious anglers. Thank you for your support and involvement!

How do I earn points?

You can earn points by doing such things as submitting lake/river reports, uploading photographs, etc. Here are some examples:
  • Submit Conditions Reports (per approved report):
    • 5-50 points for a written conditions report
    • 5-20 points for a water temperature update
    • 5-20 points for a water level update
    • 5-20 points for a status update
    Earn up to 110 points per report for a lake or river. Points are evaluated based on need and quality of report.
  • Become a Field Editor: Field Editors earn points for not only providing their own reports, but also managing, approving and editing reports coming in from other members.
  • Upload Photographs: 5 points per approved photograph (more for Fins-Ups)
  • Calendar Events: 5 points per approved event submission
  • Forum Posts: points per post depending on "Fins-Up" (likes) from others
  • Lake & River Information Edits: points vary (contact us to report edits on lake and river pages)
  • Guest Blogs: points vary (contact us)
Field Editors, calendar editors, news editors, and lake/river editors gain points for managing reports and information.
