BoatUS and Friends Help Keep Used Fishing Line Out of the Water

For most anglers, keeping a fishing line in the water usually results with a catch (or at least thatís the way itís supposed to work Iím told).

However, old used line is another matter. On Earth Day our BoatUS Foundation teamed up with a few friends at the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the American Sportfishing Association and the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation to build 600 fishing line recycling bins.

What do they look like?

Hereís a video of the event from US Fish and Wildlife Service Director Director Dan Ashe:

For more information about our fishing line recycling program, go to www.BoatUS.com/foundation/monofilament. The project is funded by a grant from the NOAA Marine Debris Program.

Next time you head out on the water, what will you do with your old fishing line?
