The State-Fish Art Contest uses art to ignite kid's imagination while teaching them about fish and fishing. Students across the United States and around the world have the opportunity to win awards and national recognition while learning about a state-fish species, its behaviors, aquatic habitat and conservation. The contest is helping create future stewards for our valuable aquatic resources.

This year's distinguished panels of judges are ready to select 2017 National Winners on the Friday before Earth Day. The national and state winners will be announced Tuesday, May 9, 2017 and displayed on the State-Fish Art website. (Art:spotted bass by Angelina L., 6th Grade, NC)

The State-Fish Art EXPO in 2017 is a mini-EXPO held August 11-13 in Columbia, South Carolina during the Forrest Wood Cup, the World Championship of Bass Fishing. The State-Fish Art Wall of Fame will showcase the winning students artwork from across the nation in the four grade categories. The online public voting for the People's Choice Award will be during the month of July with the final votes cast in person at the Cup on August 12th. The Seth Thomas Spradlin Best of Show award will also be announced on stage. The event is open to the public free of charge. Drop by and meet the staff at the State-Fish Art booth

Remember, the deadline is March 31st ... catch some memories and enter the State-Fish Art Contest!

About the State-Fish Art Contest
The award-winning Wildlife Forever State-Fish Art Contest® is in its 19th year of bringing children, art and aquatic conservation together. To enter, young artists create an original illustration of any official state-fish and one page of written words detailing its behavior, habitat, and efforts to conserve it. Entries are categorized in four grade levels: K-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. Educators nationwide utilize Fish On!, the full-color State-Fish Art Lesson Plan, combining the disciplines of science and art. It is available on CD, at no charge and for download. Entries are due postmarked by March 31st each year. To learn more and to view the 2017 winning images after May 9 visit
