Fishing license sales are on the rise nationwide, according to new data recently released by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS). It’s the biggest increase in years in fishing license sales – up 3.27 percent in 2010 (at 29.31 million), which means nearly one million new license purchases!
In addition, a data analysis conducted by Southwick Associates reveals states who participated in RBFF’s 2010 State Fishing License Marketing Program saw license sales increase 3.62 percent, while non-participating states saw a 2.08 percent increase. The difference for RBFF partner states – an extra 1.54 percent – is quite substantial.
“This is fantastic news for RBFF and our stakeholders,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “The number of licensed anglers has not declined since 2007, and this latest jump in purchases motivates us to work even harder to increase participation. Noting that there are many factors that contribute to overall license sales, these new figures certainly are a good indicator that we’re on the right track.”
