We've been in Rockport for several days now and rather than fishing I've been playing tourist, getting my kayak rigged, and switching my gear over from fresh to salt water. Oh, I've also been chatting with anglers, and visiting tackle shops. All excuses.
Today we visited Goose Island State Park, primarily to see it, check out the kayak launch and see what the fishing potential was. Sue, encouraged me to fish, so I pulled out the 7 wt, rigged a floating line, stuffed a couple fly boxes in my pockets, tied on a chartreuse/white clouser and gave it a go.
Two reds, one 25 inches which I retained for a meal or two. That ended the day as I didn't bring ice or an ice chest. So we headed to the house, a few minutes away to care for my catch.
So looking forward to the rest of the month.
And I'd love company.
