Mentor Needed

Post By: Kennywho      Posted: 4/17/2016 10:37:28 AM     Points: 940
I would very much like a local fishing mentor/buddy. I resumed fishing a couple of years ago after many years of not having the time. I've updated most of my gear and have a fair selection of lures. I have re-joined BASS and have been watching lots of videos and reading many articles in order to get up to speed. However, there is no substitute for fishing with someone who has more current knowledge and skill!

I have a one man inflatable pontoon boat that I use for river and lake fishing, so I'll need to fish with someone who has a larger boat, or perhaps who fishes from a kayak.

Your consideration is very much appreciated.

What part of the state are you in?

Dale, if he's near canyon lake.. San Marcos is close and it is in between Austin and San Antonio.

Kenny, hope you find a fishing partner.

I live North of Bulverde, near Hwy. 46 and Spring Branch Road. That's north of San Antonio and about 3 miles west of Hwy. 281 @ 46.

I fish with casting, spinning and fly rigs. I'm also interested in fly fishing for trout on the Guadalupe, or for bass anywhere.

If you ever come to CO, let me know. Bring your toon and we'll get you on some fish

While I can't get down your way anytime soon, I'd be more than happy to share any information I have on fly fishing for warmwater (and cold) species. Ask questions, and I'll do the best to answer. I've some experience catching a wide variety of fish, both fresh and salt water on the fly.

I've decided to sell my pontoon rig and get a jon boat. I originally bought the pontoon with the intention of fishing for trout on the Guadalupe. Instead, my interests have turned back to warm water fishing on Canyon lake. A larger boat makes more sense for that. I'll be listing the pontoon on Craigslist in a week or so. If anyone here is interested in the pontoon, let me know and I'll provide the info.

I'm still rigging the jon boat - haven't been to the water with it yet. I'll start a new thread about it.
