For the summer months, the go-to bait for black bass is always the texas rigged plastic worm. However, the first cold fronts tend to make the bass suspend, and they do not want something on the bottom. So, let's go with the wackey worm, sinko, or the best in my opinion is the drop shot rig. Rig the drop shot rig with a small narrow needle worm type soft plastic 4" bait 12-18 inches above a light weight on light line (8-10#) and stay back away from the fish. Make precise casts to the edge of docks, break lines, etc. You will be pleased! The absolutely best drop shot hook is the standout hook. look for it at your favorite tackle shop, or let me know if you cannot find it [log in for link]
