Colorado Bass guy needing info on Lake Conroe...

Post By: TELE-CASTER      Posted: 11/29/2012 9:11:50 PM     Points: 4300
I'm a bass guy, at heart. I fished this season with a local tourney club, here in Colorado, and I have been learning a lot. I am going to be fishing Lake Conroe on Dec 7th with a TX buddy of mine, but he's mostly a saltwater guy, so I'm looking for any advice or tips specific to Conroe at this time of year...

Any help is much appreciated!!

I am told med-diving cranks and spinner-baits have been working, but I'm more curious about the soft plastic bite. Being from CO, fishing finesse is more my comfort zone. I love throwing heavy jigs for the bigger fish...

I can offer a few ideas on where to look. I would throw crankbaits around docks on south end of lake prefer the west side around 8' water. I like the splatter back pattern.
If your looking for a soft plastic bite fish boat houses up around april plaza marina. I personally like to swim a white jig around the marinas this time of year, can be a great bite.Hope this helps.

hookseter, thanks for the tips! That's pretty much exactly the kind of info I am looking for... Thanks SO much for the help... at least I don't have to approach this new body of water completely un-armed... )

If you have a map and gps locate the DUMP on the south end main lake and try jigging with your favorite slab and see what you can entice. I have personally caught a few fish on this spot this time of year over 10lbs. But make sure drag is set med cause when you stick a 20# hybrid you might loose your rod!!!! Have fun and let us know how ya do.
Thanks
