We took the "kids" fishing today on Lake Austin, and we had a great time!
It was unusually cool this morning, and there was little recreational traffic.
We did see a guy swimming the entire length of Lake Austin (about twenty miles I think), for a good cause! Stay tuned to the news for this.
Lake Austin was in beautiful condition. The area above City Park is choked with hydrilla to the surface in many locations. The water is very clear, and 80-84 degrees during the afternoon.
My grandson caught his first black bass! He is 3 1/2 years old!
After a little fishing, we stopped into the local Shores restaurant for some good food.
OK, OK, OK, you're dying to know what he caught it on.
7 1/2' American Rodsmiths flipping stick, 20 # test, 1 oz sinker, and 10" Zoom Ole Monster worm! (can't disclose the color) No finesse fishing here.
Everyone, feel free to congratulate Carter "Big Fish" Surrec
BTW, Carter's twin sister Clara did not catch one on this trip, so she is eager to catch one next time.
