Lake: Lake Arrowhead

Lake Arrowhead

Am I the only one here who fishes Lake Arrowhead? I've only fished from the shore but have recently ordered a boat and I'm interested in bass, crappie, and catfish. Although Arrowhead seems small by comparison, I've seen some very nice fish come out of it and I'm very much looking forward to getting out there. Fishing Report: Water off color 52Ė57 degrees 8.01' low. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits, RatĖLĖTraps, squarebill crankbaits and jigs. Crappie are fair on minnows. White bass are good on Road Runners and minnows. Blue catfish are good on live shad.

What kind of boat are you getting? I would be heading for those oil derricks, fish love structure and that is great structure.

Iím getting a 15.10í Jon, with a 20 - 4 stroke Mercury. Since I go out alone a lot (donít have to stay in any spot longer than I want to), I think this will be enough boat for me. If you could see me youíd know Iím not telling the whole truth. Have to keep the Mrs. happy while getting what I need. After I made the purchase I realized for a couple thousand more I could have bought a BASS looking boat.
As you can probably tell Iím still pretty excited about my new toy. Iíve mapped the lake, passed my boating exam, and know exactly where I want to start. Right now Iím just waiting for the truck to bring it in. Iím thinking about working the shallower areas and around a few docks before heading to the derricks. When the Crappie get busy, itís hard to find a good spot around the derricks but I like to get out early too.
