Texas Fishing Clubs: McAllen Bass Anglers

Back to Texas fishing clubs listing...

McAllen Bass Anglers

We are a small Bass Club located in the Rio Grande Valley of Deep South Texas. Our goal is to promote Bass Fishing as a Sport.

Our Purpose is to improve our skills in catching freshwater Bass through a fellowship of friendly exchange of fishing techniques and ideas. We currently have a roster of approximately 20 members. We hold a two-day tournament each month. Tournaments are either "individual competition", "team" or "draw" format.

Members earn points based on the total weight of fish caught during each tournament, to determine the Top Ten Anglers. Points are also given for showing up at meetings and at the tournaments. Awards are given at the end of the year to the Top Ten anglers. In the past, the Top Six were sent to the State TABC or Federation tournament to compete on the State level. Each year in December the club decides on the awards to be handed out.

Some of the lakes we fish are Falcon International, Choke Canyon, Coleto Creek, Lake Corpus Christi (Mathis), RGV Lake, and occasionally Lake Amistad and Mexico lakes.

We are presently applying for affiliation with Texas B.A.S.S. Federation and considering re-joining our membership with TABC. We have fished a few of Top Sixes, including Richland Chambers, and Toledo Bend.

Meetings will now be held the 1st Tuesday of every month at Villalobos & Vaughan (5804 N. 23rd St. & Dove Ave, McAllen, Tx) at 7:00 p.m.
