Tough Days on the Water
This past weekend I got the kayak out on a new smaller body of water looking to get into some largemouth bass. There’s always a sense of excitement when I try out a new place for the first time.

An Evening's Catch (with pictures)
I fish with a 5 wt fly rod. My grandmother (the greatest fisherman that ever lived) fished with a fly rod, a bobber and live bait. I've come full circle and realized that she had the right idea. So I guess it's a family tradition of a kind now.

Fall Transition - How to Fish It
I am continuing to delve into finer points of this fishing period which lies somewhere between summer and fall, perhaps call it late summer, perhaps early fall.

Fishing Rules of Life
Another one is that if I want to take home a stringer of fish, I have to "forget" to take my stringer with me. Can't catch any fish with a stringer in my pocket if I'm in a fish eating mood.

AWB had a Heart Attack - Part 2
Many of you may think my heart attack was a result of my weight.. you'd be wrong. Although my weight did become an issue. Once admitted to the hospital, it gets real and it gets scary. At least for me.

Pleasant Fishing
To add icing to this cake I saw rain coming our way. I was looking at my wife, something I always enjoy doing but she is even prettier when she is fishing, and way down river I noticed rain hitting the water.

AWB had a Heart Attack - Part 1
Part 1 will cover what happened and part 2 will cover the hospital and a whole bunch of things I bet you never knew. I didn't and always felt I was fairly well informed on this subject.

End of Summer or Start of Fall Fishing?
What do we call this time of year? Late summer, early fall, autumn? I know that the box marked autumn on my calendar is a few weeks away, but right now we're in this mix of seasons, and sometimes it ain't pretty for fishing.

Power Out Fishing
This hole is beautiful, it is in a spot where the river narrows considerably so the current picks up to quite a pace. Crystal clear water, gravel bottom, trees overhanging it. Maybe 150 feet long and 30 feet wide.

Summer
Wading birds in the Brazos are legion, in both species, and in numbers. They will wade around the edges of the rock shelf, eyeing the water with that soul-less un-blinking gaze of their saucer shaped eyes, neck muscles tense, virtually coiled.
