Last night I worked in my shop with the doors open till 7pm. As I put my ice huts together and did inventories of all the gear, I wondered... where's winter?
In reality its just a little bit of nice weather before winter comes around. Are you getting prepared? Drag out the huts, clean and repair what's needed. Start the auger (keep stabilizing in the fuel), check sonar batteries. Get the jigs, spoons, minnow baits, hooks, and bobbers counted. Make a list, check twice and leave a copy where your family can find it. (A great way to get gear is to ask for it for Christmas). I find it best to make a list of the places I want to fish each year, do the research on the best times then make a plan.
If you're all caught up on chores, December 9th please join me at the Thornton Cabelas at 9:30 am and the Lonetree Cabelas at 2:30 for a seminar on ice fishing for lake trout. We will be talking how lake trout relate to structure, where they move to and techniques to help catch more fish. I will also be talking about some cool new products and will have a few giveaways. I hope to see you there.

Big fan Bernie, I can't wait for your seminar and wisdom. I have everything ready to go, a bit too early. I was able to ice fish last week in South Park to scratch the itch, now just waiting on Granby and Williams fork.
