Walleye Fishing South of DFW

TPWD has released millions of Walleye fingerlings over the past few years in a little, and little known, lake just outside Glen Rose.
Wheeler Branch Lake is a 180 acre lake open to canoes and kayaks and Jon boats only. No gas engines but electric trolling motors are okay. There's an $8 entry fee per person and no over-nighting.
This lake is an oddity, even for Texas. The county actually had to dig it out, and then pump water into it from the Paluxy River. It is not on a natural water way, there is no creek or river feeding it. It is fed by a pump. It has a depth of 85 feet. It is a truly man made lake in every sense of the concept.
It has been stocked with Smallmouth Bass, Florida Strain Large Mouth Bass, Channel Catfish, and Bluegills as well as Walleye...but the interesting thing to me is the Walleye.
So, if you want to hunt the Texas Walleye here's a place to do it without driving to the Panhandle.
Good Luck and let us know if you catch any!
