A great tournament with my friend

Guest Blog by: Dave Mauldin 10/12/2017
Don Gordon and I finished 1st (not our first rodeo) last Tuesday night in the TTZ tournament on Lake Travis, after a mild cold front, with a stiff wind and lots of rain....Needless to say, not ideal conditions for humans to catch bass during total dark, with a wind and rain, but we were tough.....The fish actually bit pretty good, as we managed with boat control and weather conditions...
As mentioned, the late summer cold fronts drop the water temp, and turn the fish on sometimes....
I noticed the water temp on Lake Travis dropped 10 degrees after all the rain we had with hurricane Harvey from 94-84.....and dropped another 4 degrees with the latest cold front
from 84-80.....
We call them cold fronts, but they are just cool fronts right now! Sometimes just after a late summer "cool" front while the sky is still cloudy, and there is moisture, it turns the fish on...
By the next day or two, when the blue bird sky and high pressure arrives, they slow down......

And by the way, Don caught our fifth fish (a good four pounder) on the very last cast, allowing
us to get to weigh-in just on time, and Win!!
