The old adage, “when it rains, it pours,” is holding true in terms of new articles. I pleased to announce that I just posted “Gift of a Lifetime,” by Lloyd Tackitt. The story of a young man receiving a gift while fishing and not fully appreciating it until much later in life. Something that I believe we can all relate to. For those familiar with Lloyd’s writings, you know you’re in for a treat, for the rest of you; you will want to read all his other articles and blogs after reading this piece.
This makes the third article this year, prior I posted “Old Salts” and “Safety on the Ice, Lessons from a Survivor.” I have five more in the pipeline that I’ll get up in the near future. There are contributions from Dan Swanson, Shantro Buck, David Coulson, and Richard Pilatzke coming. I expect to have at least two more up by the month's end, maybe all five of them.
For those interested in writing, Fish Explorer offers many venues to hone and share your skills, the forum, Lake Editor, blogs, and articles. While we’re unable to directly compensate you, we do provide points for many of these, and with the blogs, depending on content, you may get exposure in more than your home state. Further, all blogs and articles show your short bio and any sponsors you list. Contact me or your state editor for more information.
In the meantime, enjoy Lloyd’s newest article, and spend a little time browsing through our collection of nearly 100 articles. I’m sure one or more of them will be of interest to you.
To say fly fishing is a passion for Dave is an understatement, he lives by the adage, fly fishing isnt a matter of life or death, its much more important than that. Simply, if its a fish, then Daves willing to chase it on a fly. This includes making two or three trips a year out of state to places like Alaska, Canada, East and West Coasts to fly fish for salmon, northern pike and salt water species, such as redfish. The rest of the time Dave spends his time plying Colorado waters with a fly rod for everything the state has to offer such as bass, perch, crappie, bluegill, walleye, catfish, pike and yes even trout with a fly.
