No Banner Ads

Just the clean, fast, slick website you deserve
Supporting FishExplorer with an FxR+ subscription means no more remnant banner ads being mixed in with the content. We thank you for your financial support of this project and in turn nix the Google ads. There may still be a few local fishing-related sponsor ads but those are the good ones.
Historic Data and Archives

Full Data, Archives & History

Complete access to lake and river details, historic reports & archived content.
The history section in the lake/river details pages displays the historic data we have available for each. Flip through recent and previous-years' water temps, status, levels, conditions, and journal entries. Use the seasonal history section to find available reports from the same time of year, from years past, where applicable.
Private Fish Log

Private Fish Log

Pinpoint your catches on maps for future reference and analysis.
The FishExplorer fish log feature allows you to record photos and details of fish you've caught, pinpointed to the exact location you caught them on the lake and river details maps. All records are private to you.

Visit any lake or river page on FishExplorer, click on the map to add a catch, enter details, choose a photo to attach, and it will be saved for your future reference. The main fish log portal lists all your catches which you can filter them by month of year, lake, river, or fish species. Icons for each appear on the applicable lake and river maps.
Private Trip Journal

Private Trip Journal

Log your fishing trips.
Keep notes on your travels, journeys, expeditions, explorations, and of course your fishing trips. In the FxR+ Trip Journal, you can assign entries to specific bodies of water so that when you are on the details pages your entries appear in the history section. So if you didn't catch any fish last year on this same day, maybe you will have second thoughts about a trip this year. That is unless you see in the conditions history that this year is different enough that you might just have a fighting chance!
Maps Conditions and Activity

Lake/River Maps & Tables

Snapshots for lakes & rivers: status, water temperature, & activity
Utilize the conditions and user activity data to get a one-stop look at which bodies of water are getting the most attention at any given time, view water temperature information based on recent and average historical reports, and view maps with color-coded icons representing the status of the fishery. For instance, if a lake is marked low it will be displayed as a yellow icon, and river section paths colored based on current gage readings where available.

The lake/river activity chart measures attention a lake or river is receiving based on various statistics from our website. Bar graphs illustrate the relative amount of views for each body of water over a span of time. Click on a single record and see a day-by-day trend of the water's popularity. This can help you predict how busy it might be before your trip.
Advanced Weather Tools

Weather Tools

Location-specific advanced weather data for the metrics that affect your fishing strategy and planning.
Wind, precipitation, barometer, moon times, sun times, and more play a vital role in planning a trip. FxR+ utilizes advanced models to provide anglers what they need to know, at the precise location they're looking at, not at a remote station that may or may not be relevant. The data we provide includes:
  • Recent weather history
On each lake and/or river page we list hourly history from the past 2 days showing wind directions, speed, and barometric pressure that may affect choosing your strategy. Data includes wind speed, gust speed, wind direction, barometric pressure and more.
  • Near-future weather factors
Hourly forecasts for the same elements listed above, with highlighted values that indicate major changes.
  • Sun & moon times
Upcoming times for periods such as moonrise and set, moon overhead and underfoot, sunrise, etc. based on the specific location.
  • Barometric Pressure Chart
A graphical representation of what to expect of the barometer in the near future on an hourly basis.

Fish Records

Fish Records & Enhanced Data

Find where the biggest and the most fish are caught and stocked.
Where applicable we provide aggregated fish catch records that are available through state programs. These are available on the lake/river pages, showing records for the specific body of water, and on fish species pages themselves including where they were caught.

Go beyond the basic stocking data summaries which are available for free to all. We've gone through quite a bit of data entry and programming to provide a very useful tool to inspect the gamefish plantings in lakes and rivers we feature, and on the fish species pages themselves.
