Fishing Rules of Life
Another one is that if I want to take home a stringer of fish, I have to "forget" to take my stringer with me. Can't catch any fish with a stringer in my pocket if I'm in a fish eating mood.

Carp on the Fly Resources - Part 2
Here's the second of a couple blogs highlighting some great resources to get you into carp on the fly.

End of Summer or Start of Fall Fishing?
What do we call this time of year? Late summer, early fall, autumn? I know that the box marked autumn on my calendar is a few weeks away, but right now we're in this mix of seasons, and sometimes it ain't pretty for fishing.

Summer
Wading birds in the Brazos are legion, in both species, and in numbers. They will wade around the edges of the rock shelf, eyeing the water with that soul-less un-blinking gaze of their saucer shaped eyes, neck muscles tense, virtually coiled.

Where Are They?
We have a solid four months of hot coming at us. And the fish are affected. They become more nocturnal, foraging for food more at night than in the day.

My Main Fishing Companion - Boo
He teaches them to throw rocks for him to fetch. He does that by picking up a rock and dropping it at their feet over and over until they get the idea. I've seen him do it a hundred times now. He is a great teacher.

Water Moccasins
Water moccasins and I go way back. Way back.

Under the Bridge
The Crappie bit softly, mostly as the jig was falling. We caught a lot of them. They ranged in size from one no bigger than a minnow to one about fourteen inches.

The Best Fishing Partner Ever
I have fished with a lot of people over the years, a lot of people. But there is one that stands out as my all time, no holds barred, no close second place - fishing partner. The best fishing partner ever.
