I am excited that FishExplorer.com has entered the great state of Florida. I am looking forward to sharing my trips, reports and general news about bass fishing in Florida.
Since the majority of my posts are going to focus on what's going on in the lakes we fish, I will tell you how I am planning for my upcoming tournament on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes. Sunday, my club, the Fort Myers Bass Club will be fishing "The Chain" out of Camp Mack.
I really love fishing these bodies of water as there is always a chance to catch the "big one". I have fished Toho twice this year with mixed results and am looking forward to launching out of Camp Mack again. I am much more familiar with the chain on this side of the lock.
Since the fish are in the post-spawn stage and the water is warming more and more each day, I expect this to be a topwater bite early and then to fish offshore the rest of the day. I will have a topwater walking bait, like a Megabass Dog-X and also a lipless crankbait rigged up for first thing in the morning. As the sun rises, I plan to throw a Carolina-rig with a black Dinero by Get Five Lures in the offshore grass and shell beds. I am content with throwing "the rig" all day and know it might be my best bet to catch a big one this time of year.
Look for a complete report after this weekend!
Bass fishing is more than just a hobby for me, it's my life. I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and lived in Washington State for a few years but now find myself in South Florida. My favorite lakes are Lake Okeechobee, Lake Istokpoga and the Kissimmee Chain. I spend my time fishing as many tournaments as possible. When not competing in tournaments, I fish for fun, as well as writing and blogging about bass fishing.
