My Day on the Stick/Marsh 13.....

I have a bucket list if you will on places I would love to fish and last week I crossed the Stick Marsh 13 off that list. I was lucky to have meet a guy by the name of Dean Herdman who happens to guide on the Marsh and has a house about 10 minutes from the ramp. My brother David who moved here from Ca just a week ago and I were pumped to say the least about our fishing adventure.

It's been said that per acre of water, the Stick Marsh and Farm 13 yield more 10 pound bass than any other Florida waters open to the public. The recent rains have lots of water running through the Marsh and the bass are loving it . We took a run around the lake to check out the features before starting our fishing day. Our guide took us to the long dike that runs most of the length of the Marsh. The wind was blowing so we started working the main point and proceeded to catch fish right off the bat. Rattle trap type baits, Lucky Craft hard swim baits and Carolina rigged plastics worked very well. The numbers were great with an occasional 4-5 lb’er mixed in, I chucked a larger swim bait for a while looking for the big girls but they just didn’t want to play. It’s all catch and release which means there’s tons of fish to be caught, we had some reports that day of 50 - 100 fish being caught by some boats. We saw a Bald Eagle , huge Gators and lots of birds which made for a scenic outing on this unbelievable bass fisherman paradise. I'm looking forward to my next trip to the Stick Marsh/Farm 13 .
