Getting There:

US-34 to Co Rd 43 to Dunraven Glade Road to the trailhead. Moderate inclines throughout the length take the bite out of this long trail, however, it should not be attempted as a day hie unless you are in good health and very fit. It's a long trek to what is considered one of the Park's best greenback fishing destinations. Prepare accordingly and don't forget plenty of water or a water filter. From the trailhead, the first five miles of the trail are outside the Park. This section is often called Dunraven Trail, while within the Park it's called North Fork Trail or Lost Lake Trail. A few brief steep sections break up a trail that otherwise has a consistently moderate incline. Almost the entire length of the trail is a stone's throw from the North Fork Big Thompson River. It is all a fisher can do to not frequently stop along the way to fish, keeping in mind the real fishing gems are the lakes some ten miles in.
