KeepAmericaFishing™ Named Best Rebranding Finalist In PR Newswire’s Platinum PR Awards

Alexandria, VA – July 26, 2011 - The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) announces that KeepAmericaFishing™ - the sportfishing industry’s angler advocacy campaign dedicated to protecting the legacy of recreational fishing – was named a finalist by PR Newswire for Best Rebranding Strategy in this year’s Platinum PR Awards.

Since the July 2010 launch of the new branding and advocacy campaign, KeepAmericaFishing has transformed from a grassroots campaign focused on helping California’s anglers fight marine no-fishing zones into a national community of half a million anglers dedicated to preserving anglers’ rights to sustainably fish on our nation’s public waterways.

“KeepAmericaFishing gives this nation’s 60 million anglers a voice on issues that matter most to them,” said ASA Vice President Gordon Robertson. “Anglers provide $1.2 billion annually toward fisheries conservation yet restrictions that keep them off their waters continue to increase. ASA took the lead in educating anglers about the threats to their right to fish and motivating them to take action to keep our waters open and our fisheries healthy.”

As part of the overall rebranding strategy, KeepAmericaFishing launched an online portal – www.KeepAmericaFishing.org - where anglers can learn about the legislative and conservation initiatives facing recreational fishing and find the tools and resources they need to let their voices be heard. Additionally, KeepAmericaFishing has implemented numerous cause marketing and awareness promotions with leading manufacturers, retailers and media partners in the recreational fishing industry.
