Big Thompson Volunteers Needed‏

On Saturday Rocky Mountin Flycasters volunteers will join others to recreate a stretch of the Big Thompson River destroyed in the 2013 flood. Volunteers will sow seeds, plant willows,cottonwoods and shrubs and work on bank stabilization. All of these elements of the riparian habitat need a 'jump start' from human hands. You can supply those hands.


When:
this Saturday April 16, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Where:
the Big Thompson River west of Loveland

-From the intersection of Wilson Ave and West Eisenhower (Hwy 34) head west on Hwy 34 for 1.6 miles to Rossum Drive.

-Turn left on Rossum Drive, travel 1.5 miles to the first roundabout (Cedar Valley Drive)

-Turn right on Cedar Valley Dr, travel about 0.25 mi to next roundabout, (intersection with Deer Mountain Dr) continue through roundabout on Cedar Valley Dr another 0.25 miles to a dirt parking lot on the right. Welcome, you're in the right place!

What to bring: Plan as if you were taking a spring hike in the woods...

Long Pants
Long sleeved shirt & all-weather gear (can be needed in 5 minutes of a Colorado Spring!)
Work shoes/boots for rough terrain
Work gloves
Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sunblock
2 liters water
Toilet paper and trowel for when we are 'in the woods'
Lunch and personal snacks
Daypack for everything you won't be wearing

Release form:
You will be able to complete a release form at the work site.

This is a cooperative project also involving area landowners, City of Loveland, Colorado Trout
Unlimited and the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Technical management is by Synergy
Ecological Restoration. Trained crew leaders will be on hand to help.

Everyone is invited to join Rocky Mountain Flycasters, St Peters Fly Shop, Pig Farm Ink and Odell Brewing for the 2nd Annual Fly Fishing Day.


When: Sunday April 17, 11:00 am - 6:00 pm
Where: Odell's Tasting Room, 800 E Lincoln, Ft Collins
What: Family fun with casting lessons, fly tying lessons, raffles, games & music 3:30-5:30
