Montana FWP Commission Votes for Year-Round Fishing on Madison River
Wide Open Spaces
Thanks to a Thursday vote by members of the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission, anglers will have year-round fishing access to one of the more popular rivers in the state.

The Madison River, home to several kinds of trout and mountain whitefish, historically had one of the country’s most confusing set of regulations, but with the changes, the FWP hopes to clear up some misunderstandings.
Three sections of the stream, previously closed from the end of February to the third Saturday in May, will now be open to angling 12 months out of the year.

This is a welcome change to the many avid fly fishermen who travel to or reside in Montana, as the mecca is known to be the home of some fantastic trout fishing, and better than average Big Sky scenery.
