Water flows in the South Platte River within Eleven Mile Canyon have decreased to a level that will allow the re-opening of the Canyon Road.
The facilities opening include: Cove Campground (CG), Spillway CG, Springer Gulch CG, Riverside CG, Obrien Gulch Picnic Area (PA), Eleven Mile PA, Messenger Gulch PA, Idlewild PA and the Eleven Mile Fishing Area, and the parking areas along the road.
While the facilities are open, visitors are advised to be cautious around the river. Water flows are still higher than normal.
Due to the holiday weekend these campgrounds may fill up quickly. There are other camping opportunities near Woodland Park at: Colorado, South Meadows or Painted Rocks Campgrounds. Also, near the community of Jefferson at: Kenosha Pass, Timberline, Jefferson Creek, Aspen and Lodgepole Campgrounds.
While we understand the confusion and inconvenience this closure created, your safety is always our primary concern.
Please remember that fireworks are not permitted at any time within the National Forests.
