ANGLERS CAUTIONED TO AVOID SOUTH PARK STREAMS AND RIVERS

Due to unprecedented spring rains, many waters are running over their banks, including the “Dream Stream” at Charlie Meyers State Wildlife Area. CPW encourages anyone eager to fish to instead pursue the reservoirs in the area, such as Eleven Mile, Spinney, and Tarryall.
“Yesterday we announced that we’d be releasing additional water from Tarryall to maintain a safe level for the dam,” said Reid Dewalt, area wildlife manager for South Park. “Looking at all of the waters in the area, we feel it’s appropriate to temporarily discourage fishing in moving water until the flows return to their usual rates.”
As snowmelt has not begun yet in the high country, anglers can expect to see higher flows for the next few weeks, after which fishing will return to normal.
