OFF LIMITS WATERFOWL AREAS REDUCED AT JOHN MARTIN RESERVOIR STATE PARK

Visitors should stop by Colorado Parks and Wildlife's Lamar office, or the John Martin State Park Visitor Center to pick up a map highlighting the new boundaries or call your local District Wildlife Manager for more information. Signs are also posted in the area clarifying the new closure area.
Every year, from Nov. 1 through the end of the regular waterfowl season, areas of John Martin Reservoir State Park and State Wildlife Area are closed to the public to allow for waterfowl resting during the hunting season.
Some of the factors that went into the decision to reduce the closure areas were a decrease in the Canada geese population and an increase in light geese. Water levels at the reservoir are also lower this year changing the landscape.
