Good news: thank our elected officials on the Roan Plateau!

It also harbors substantial reserves of natural gas.
Trout Unlimited has long supported an approach for the Roan that allows for responsible energy development in appropriate areas, while leaving key fish and wildlife habitats undisturbed to help protect the Roan's unique values. After years of litigation over the Bureau of Land Management's leasing plan for the Roan, we are working toward a settlement with the government and energy companies that may achieve a balanced solution for the Roan.A bipartisan group of Colorado elected officials - Senators Michael Bennet and Mark Udall, Representative Scott Tipton, and Governor John Hickenlooper - recently weighed in with the Secretary of the Interior to urge prompt action to make it happen you can read their letter here.
Bipartisan political leadership from Senators Bennet and Udall, Representative Tipton, and Governor Hickenlooper will help reach a balanced solution for the Roan - please take a moment to thank them!
When elected officials step up to support conservation and responsible development, it is important that we let them know we appreciate their efforts. Please take just a minute to visit our action center and send a quick "thank you" email to this bipartisan group of Colorado leaders.
With their help - and yours - I am confident that we can achieve a solution that will protect valuable native trout (like the Trappers Creek cutthroat pictured here) and wildlife habitat atop the Roan while allowing for responsible development to help meet our nation's energy needs. Thank you for helping make a difference!
