English Angler Catches Potential World Record Carp
Wide Open Spaces
Harrison caught the massive fish out of Euro Aqua Lake in Hungary, and he says it was his angling life’s goal to reel in a 90-pound fish. Mission accomplished.
He’ll now await International Game Fish Association (IGFA) verification of the record, but it should be no problem. The former world record for common carp is 15 pounds lighter, a still-respectable 71-pound, 11-ounce fish caught by Leo van der Gugten in France.

Different from the Asian carp that has caused problems stateside and elsewhere, the common carp isn’t despised and is actually a fairly popular game fish in much of Europe.
