This clinic is designed to recruit and encourage youth/family participation in fishing and camping.To qualify, anglers should be in middle school or high school and have very limited experience with fishing. Due to limited space and equipment, interested participants will need to complete an application. See contact information below to receive an application. Ten families will be selected to participate.
The program is a one day event that includes a night of camping at Golden Gate Canyon State Park! Participation in the camping portion is required. All fishing and camping gear will be provided. Selected participants will need to bring their own food and sleeping bag. Participants sixteen years old and older will need a valid fishing license. The cost of the clinic is $5 per person, plus $7 vehicle fee. The fee covers entrance into the park and the camping permit.
The date for the clinic is August 3rd - 4th. The schedule for the day is: Arrive at Golden Gate Canyon State Park by 9:00 a.m. Basic/bait fishing techniques 9:30-11:30 Lunch on your own 11:30-12:30 Fly fishing and spin fishing 1-3 Leave no trace set up camping 3:30-6 Dinner on your own 6 Fish on your own (practice your new skills) Next morning, fish on your own, leave at any time
