Body recovered from Runyon Lake
Colorado Parks and Wildlife
A witness told the Pueblo Police Department they saw the man jump into the lake around 3:45 p.m., near the northside dock. Witnesses said the man was having trouble swimming and disappeared under the water. Pueblo Police located the victim, who was deceased, around 4:45 p.m.

The victim's name is not being released at this time and cause of death will be determined by the Pueblo County Coroner.

Swimming is not allowed at Runyon Lake, a lake intended for fishing.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife wants to remind the public of the following safety tips when recreating around natural bodies of water such as lakes and reservoirs.

- Only swim in designated areas.
- Always swim with a friend.
- Know before you go. Don't swim if you don't know if it's safe.
- Young children or inexperienced swimmers should always wear a life jacket.
- Don't dive into open water. It is difficult to estimate water depth and to see hidden objects underneath the surface. Head, neck and back injuries can occur from hitting the bottom or striking an object in the water.
- Avoid alcohol use. Alcohol impairs judgment, balance and coordination, reduces the body's ability to stay warm, and affects swimming and boating operation skills.
