Every year for the last decade the Denver Merchandise Mart has been the venue for the Fly Fishing Show. Some things stay the same and others change or new companies show up. January 3-5 (Friday - Sunday) is your opportunity to find out what Chuck Furminsky has put together for 2014.
Easy access from I-25 (beware of the speed traps at many of the off-ramps on the north end of Denver). Parking is free and it is a short stroll into the building. Vendors, fly tiers, slide shows, casting demonstration, authors, fishing tips and techniques from the people who fish for a living (how do they do that?). There are also many lodges that show up to twist your arm to spend some time with them. Some offer some really great specials.
Every year I learn something, spend money, talk with wonderful folks, and come home enthused for the season. Do not miss it.
$15 for one day, $25 for two-day pass, $35 for three-day pass Children under 5 free, under 12: $2 Scouts under 16 in uniform: free Active Military: $10 Cash only at the door (there is an EXPENSIVE ATM there)
Also, the F4T (Fly Fishing Film Festival) is back. It is an additional $10 at the door with a paid admission. It was jam packed last year and they were tossing prizes out to the audience. It was like hungry wolves. You might enjoy waiting for the show to be offered at the Wildlife Experience as a fundraiser for Project Healing Waters.
