Big Thompson and River's Edge Ponds Updates

Big T Ponds are closed for the time being. Ponds 1, 2, and 3 are now the new river channel. We are in the process to determine the best course of action to reopen the SWA. The west pond #5 remains a viable fishery. Each of the River's Edge Ponds contain viable populations of sportfish and fared quite well. We found solid numbers of bass, catfish, crappie, perch, bluegill and even a few stocked rainbows. Those are the condition going into winter. At present oxygen levels are sufficient but the amount of sedimentation is concerning as it relates to photosynthesis. The City of Loveland will determine the appropriate time to reopen those and we will follow suit with some supplemental stocking. Your best ice fishing options this fall in Loveland will be at Lon Hagler and Boyd Lake SP with St. Vrain SP closed to repairs. Cheers.
