Hi all, We'll be bumping up releases from Green Mountain Dam to the lower Blue River today (October 24) around 8 a.m. The 50 cfs increase will put the flows in the Lower Blue around 500 cfs. We will continue bumping up releases by 50 cfs each day, through the weekend, until flows reach about 700 cfs on Monday, October 28.
The approximately 700 cfs release rate to the Lower Blue is anticipated to stay in place for 3-4 days while Reclamation conducts testing of its generating units at the power plant on the dam. Once the testing is complete, flows will scale back down over a series of incremental reductions until they reach about 400 cfs for the first weekend of November.
Please keep in mind that this release schedule is an approximation and subject to change per weather and demands. If you're planning to visit the Lower Blue, check the gauge before you head out.
Reservoir water elevation levels are updated every night at midnight on our Green Mountain teacup page at http://www.usbr.gov/gp-bin/arcweb_gmtr.pl. Currently, the reservoir is 70% full, which is above average for this time of year.
I will be in the office today and tomorrow if you have any related questions. I will be out the following two weeks on vacation.
