Wildlife commissioner to host public meeting in Gunnison
GUNNISON, Colo--Colorado Wildlife Commissioner Mark Smith will host a public meeting in Gunnison at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 14 at the Gunnison Division of Wildlife office, 300 New York Ave.

The purpose of the meeting is to give the public an opportunity to meet wildlife commissioner Mark Smith and to allow the commissioner to hear concerns and suggestions, as well as answer questions about Colorado's wildlife management.

"This is a great opportunity to discuss wildlife management issues in the Gunnison area," said Commissioner Smith.

The Colorado Wildlife Commission is an eleven-member board appointed by the governor. The Commission sets Division of Wildlife regulations and policies for hunting, fishing, watchable wildlife, and nongame, threatened, and endangered species. It is also responsible for making decisions about buying or leasing property for habitat and public access. The Commission also approves the DOW's annual budget proposals and long-range plans.
