(Media Advisory: On Thursday, July 23, 2009, 10:00 a.m. Mark Caughlan will meet interested media at Horsetooth Reservoir, South Bay entrance station to talk about the record high waters and to give tours of new amenities for visitors.)
For immediate release:
Historic high waters at both Horsetooth Reservoir and Carter Lake are providing incredible blue-cool beauty, and a boon to boaters. Our wet spring and summer mean that Larimer Countyís recreation reservoirs are almost to capacity. The 2009 boating season may last well into October and for the first time, all ramps will remain usable throughout the fall.
New shower-houses and eight full-hookup campsites at Horsetooth Reservoir are great amenities for our camping customers. The full-hookup campsites should be ready for reservations by mid August.
Horsetooth Reservoir, located just west of Fort Collins, and Carter Lake, located just southwest of Loveland, are easy getaways for families wanting to have fun in the outdoors while staying close to home. A family can come out during the week to camp, or even for after-work escapes. During the week, there are plenty of campsites and cabins available, as well as picnic areas, swim beaches, and miles of boat-able and fishable waters. Donít miss this high-water year!
