Credit: Larimer County Parks press release
Due to low water levels the 2012 boating season for trailer-launched water craft at Horsetooth Reservoir is coming to a close.
Projections for water level elevations suggest that the South Bay boat ramps may become unusable as early as Saturday, August 25, 2012. The boating outlook for the upcoming weekend will be updated via press release on Thursday the 23rd. At this time, boating access beyond the 26th are not encouraging. This relates strictly to trailer launched water craft.
The reservoir will stay open to hand-launched craft (i.e., kayaks, canoes, etc.). All developed campgrounds will remain open. All other recreational activities at Horsetooth Reservoir including rock climbing, trails, fishing and camping continue.
Visitors who want to change a camping reservation for Horsetooth Reservoir can call 1-800-397-7795.
All boat ramps at Carter Lake are expected to remain in full operation through Labor Day weekend.
