Dennis Smith: The joy in fishing the quiet, little, out of the way places

Several years ago, my sons and I hiked into Zimmerman Lake for a go at the Colorado greenback cutthroats the Colorado Division of Wildlife (now Division of Parks and Wildlife) had planted in there about five years beforehand.
You may recall the lake used to hold a good population of Arctic grayling but, as part of the stateís greenback recovery program, Division biologists purged the lake of all non-native species and restocked it with what they then believed to be pure strain, Colorado greenback cutthroat trout in 1995.
Turns out they werenít really pure strain greenbacks, but thatís a story for another time.
