Yearly event provides fishing outings for people with disabilities

Walking leisurely down a boat ramp toward a waiting pontoon at the edge of a dock at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado Springs resident Jillian Akers stopped at the boatís edge to allow her motherís boyfriend, Bill Tifft, to snap a quick photo to capture the exciting moment.
After all, itís not every day that a 15-year-old girl gets to experience her first time fishing.
Akers, a sophomore high school student who has cerebral palsy, waited patiently for the boatís captain to arrive, peering out at the lake surface through yellow-framed sunglasses while fish mockingly rose from the water just feet from the small boat.
