As the Seven Peaks Music Festival continued Saturday, children of all ages gathered at McPhelemy Park for a different event. After being treated to a pancake breakfast served by the Optimist Club, the kids gathered along the banks of the Town Lake, fishing rods in hand. At the sound of a horn at 10 a.m., lures went flying in a race to catch the first fish in the Kids Fishing Derby. Colorado Parks and Wildlife released around 250 fish into Town Lake, and the 77 children participating in the event caught 63 of them within the hour.
