Earlier this week, Colorado's state fish, the greenback cutthroat trout, got a boost to its recovery. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Leadville National Fish Hatchery, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Salida Fish Hatchery worked together to produce and raise these threatened fish and an army of volunteers helped hike the trout to their new home in the Colorado back-country. Decades of collaborative conservation efforts are contributing to the recovery of the greenback cutthroat trout.
