Rocky Mountain Flycasters May Meeting
Rocky Mountain Fly Casters
Karin Miller, of Zen Tenkara/Zen Fly Fishing Gear, will cover the basics of tenkara but focus on the “Range of Possibilities” of this fixed-line method of fly fishing. While the tenkara excels in small streams for small fish, Karin and her company is pushing the boundaries and will show us how to manage and land large powerful species such as carp, shark, tarpon, bonefish, jacks, sockeye, silvers and chum salmon.
Come find out how tenkara is offering a whole new experience to the passionate fly angler. Karin is the owner of Zen Tenkara/Zen Fly Fishing Gear, a Colorado company that designs, manufactures and sells tenkara rods, lines, gear and accessories. Her company, since its start in 2012, has recognized the broad application of this fixed-line, fly fishing method and is known in the industry for being on the cutting edge, pushing the boundaries of tenkara, and offering high-end, muscle rods designed to target large, power fish, untraditional to the method. Karin’s reputation in the industry is of revolutionizing this ancient method of fly fishing and developing a “fusion” of traditional fly fishing with tenkara fixed-line methods, and is known for changing the way people think of this ancient Japanese sport.
Now in approximately 15 retail stores and chains, as well as lodges in Patagonia, Alaska and Mexico, Karin spends most of her time rod testing, presenting, training, and doing demos. She lives in Loveland. Karin is “defining American Tenkara”.
