CPW Outdoor Adventure Expo offers outdoor fun for all Sept. 23-24
DENVER – Colorado Parks and Wildlife will host the first-ever Outdoor Adventure Expo at Cherry Creek State Park, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23-24. New Adventures Begin Here with three outdoor activity areas to introduce you to all the agency has to offer at our 41 beautiful Parks and State Wildlife Areas.

“Colorado is known as a world-class destination for skiing, hiking and climbing, “said Jen Anderson, Education, Partnerships & Volunteer Manager. “But we think it’s equally important that our Colorado friends and neighbors have an opportunity to get outside and participate in outdoor recreation. The Outdoor Adventure Expo will give attendees a chance to try an outdoor activity they’ve always been curious about in a safe environment with experienced trainers and experts.”

Studies show that spending time outdoors makes a person stronger, smarter, and happier and all of the staff and volunteers at CPW are excited to provide a smorgasbord of outdoor recreation at this highly anticipated event.

At the Outdoor Adventure Expo, you can sample all of the recreation activities Colorado has to offer in one place, over one weekend. You can try archery, biking, fishing, OHV rides, paddle boarding, rock climbing, sailing, shooting and more! Entry to the event will be free and attendees will enjoy food trucks, shuttle rides, and a wide array of outdoor recreation exhibitors and vendors who will share their expertise and passion for getting outside.

For those seeking water activities, the Water Recreation Area will host a fleet of vessels and boating safety information that will get attendees out on the water in no time! From fishing to kayaks, to the newly ubiquitous paddle boards, friends and families can dip their paddle or wet a fishing line and experience what a great time can be had on Colorado’s lakes and rivers.

“Boating and especially paddle boating, is a fun, inexpensive way for individuals and families to keep cool and get a great workout while exploring our waterways,” said Grant Brown, Statewide Boating Safety Field Officer/Investigator and Water Recreation Area Lead.

Some of the exhibitors already signed up for the Water Recreation Area include:

Ascent Fly Fishing -- More than just your average fly shop, the biologists and bug geeks at Ascent Fly Fishing are ready to flex our brains and match the hatch for your water.

Great Lakes Marine –The house that service built, dealer of Cobalt Boats, Boston Whaler and Yamaha Outboards and service for various boats.

The Marina at Cherry Creek – Managed by Vencore Marine Group LLC. (VMG), the marina provides boat slips, rentals, the Lake House, full bar and live music on the Tiki Beach.

Valley Country Tackle – For over 60 years, serving anglers near Cherry Creek with bait, tackle, hooks, lures, sinkers and everything fishing!

This year’s event is sponsored by Shikar Safari International and Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO). Shikar Safari International supports educational projects relative to wildlife management, hunting and shooting. .GOCO invests a portion of Colorado Lottery proceeds to help preserve and enhance the state's parks, trails, wildlife, rivers and open spaces. Additional support for the event has been provided by Bass ProShops, the Colorado Lottery, Colorado Tourism, and Waste Management.
