Lake John Fishing Report 5/31/17
6/1/2017

Lake John Resort
Parks and Wildlife has put the boat dock in on the North end of Lake John and all three Delaney’s have a dock in as well. Visited the Delaney’s yesterday and while still busy… South Delaney has cleared out from being extremely full of campers over Memorial Day weekend.
We have had some very nice weather the last couple of days, drying out the secondary roads around the lakes. When we get rain showers in the afternoon, they still tend to get a little muddy. The entrance into Big Creek is currently closed due to a culvert being installed. We will keep you posted as we hear more, you can still walk to the lake from that point to go fishing. The catching on Lake John has been non-stop for fly fishing, boats trolling and shore fishers. Many people reporting lots of the stockers being caught but in-between those they are pulling out a nice 21-22” weighing in between 3-5 lbs. Last Thursday there was a 25” 8 lb Cutthroat caught out of Lake John. Fly fishing reporting great catches using a black flame egg leach, shore fishing using anything with garlic and Kastmasters and boats trolling using Tasmanian Devil’s. The Black & Gold Panther Martin is doing well too. A shore fishing tip that was shared from a few guests catching monsters “18” lead with two weights is working great with spoons and Rapala’s.”
The water temperature at Lake John has been averaging 52 degrees.
The catching on North Delaney has been strong as well. Not catching as often as Lake John but reporting bigger catches. We seen a nice 22” Brown out of North Delaney this past weekend and heard of several other beauties coming out of the Delaney’s. Fly fishing reporting using a beetle imitation.
