Some northeast region parks currently under fire restrictions

DENVER—Adams, Arapahoe, Douglas and Jefferson counties have issued fire bans that will affect some northeast region parks. Colorado Parks and Wildlife is encouraging visitors to familiarize themselves with fire restrictions and strictly adhere to them when recreating.

Barr Lake State Park in Adams County is experiencing a Level 2 burn restriction, which prohibits building, maintaining, attending, or using any fire or campfire.

Cherry Creek State Park in Arapahoe County has issued a ban on all open fires and open burning within unincorporated Arapahoe County and will remain in effect until lifted by the sheriff.

Castlewood Canyon State Park and Roxborough State Park in Douglas County are experiencing a Level 2 burn restriction, which prohibits open fires (no wood or charcoal), open burning and the use of fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Douglas County.

Chatfield State Park in Douglas and Jefferson Counties is currently under a temporary Stage 2 fire ban. Jefferson County provides a useful fire ban picture dictionary that clearly illustrates what is and is not allowed during the ban.

With continued dry conditions, all residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to use the strictest of caution when it comes to the handling of cigarettes or other flammable objects. Let’s work together to protect our precious state and its natural resources!
